Certification Requirements in CA

According to California State regulations, an individual must complete one of the following courses before pursuing a career in phlebotomy:

  • Limited Phlebotomy Technician (LPT)
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT1)
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT2)

The course will usually consist of both classroom training and practical exercises. In essence, the program will teach you theoretical knowledge of phlebotomy and provide you with hands on experience.
